Longreach Market Report 11th April 2012 A yarding of 2700 head met a strong store market this week, with fat cattle feeling the price drop that has been evident of the Easter period. Limited numbers of heavy bullocks were presented to top at 183c/kg to average 167c/kg. Feeder steers remain firm with 4-500Kg steers reaching 184c/kg. The cow market weakened in pace with very good cows over 520Kg making 145c/kg. The major run of cows 4-520Kg averaged 141c/kg. Fat heifers 400Kg to slaughter sold to 177c/kg, with classy feeder heifers topping at 180c/kg; to weigh over 300Kg. Good lines of stores attracted strong restocker & slaughter competition. The top of light steers had a sale high of 229c/kg. Strong competition witnessed on vealer heifers to push them over the $2 mark; to sell to 203c/kg.
