Longreach Market Report 15th August 2012 A good yarding of meatworks & store cattle in Longreach this week. A large lot of aged bullocks were penned selling from 158c/kg to 168c/kg. A run of younger bullocks from the Winton district topped at 170c/kg for bullocks over 600Kg. Feeder steers were in less supply this week, selling to 171c/kg, with the 3-400Kg topping at 190c/kg. The cow market eased this week around 5-8c across the board. Genuine heavy cows sold to 140c/kg, with a few heavy heifer types to 152c/kg. Cows 4-500Kg averaged 130, being up 3c from last week. Fat heifers over 400Kg sold to 167c/kg. Store steers this week lacked a bit of pace, with heavy frosts really taking the toll on the grass. Quality cross bred steers sold to 210c/kg, with Euro cross heifers selling to 184c/kg. Young Droughtmaster heifers on their first calf sold to $682.50, with Brahman cross cows with sappy calves selling to $837.50
