Longreach Market Report 8th August 2012 A big yarding of fat cattle in Longreach this week saw prices ease back slightly; A yarding of 4500 head with bullocks over 600kg selling to 172c/kg. Feeder Steers continue to sell strongly, quality feeders 400-500kg topped at 181c/kg. Brahman Steers 350-400kg sold to 178c/kg. A very large offering of Cows started strong and finished a little softer as numbers got the better of them. Heavy Cows over 520kg topped at 138c/kg, to average 132c/kg. The best of the heavy Heifers over 400kg to slaughter made 159c/kg. A large offering of Brahman Feeders Heifers put pressure on the market with Brahman Heifers selling from 140-150c/kg. Good quality flat back Feeder Heifers to early 180’s. A Smaller yarding of light cattle with store steers to 210c/kg and vealer Heifers to 188c/kg. Cows and Calves topped at $832.50.
