President Roland presents certificate to speaker Debbie Sheehan with Angela Martin-Giroux and Kiwanian Diane B. Diane B. introduced her two speakers for the evening who are involved with the Youth Farm Outreach Program (Y.F.O.P) They have completed 10 raised beds in the community. The purpose of the YFOP is to teach students how to grow fresh, nutritious, and healthy foods. Students will learn the health benefits of the fresh foods they grow, as well as how to prepare meals for themselves. The Youth Outreach Program will educate and encourage: healthy eating, physical and mental wellness, financial independence, and entrepreneurship. YFOP will use gardening/farming as a way to engage children in their communities and to encourage personal wellness. YFOP will enhance the community’s access to local fresh produce, for the students will take fresh produce to the farmer’s market. Not only will student learn how to grow produce, they will learn to market it, sell it , and eat it. The speakers took questions

PRESIDENT PODIUM:

A cold and stormy evening, but a great turnout in membership to our weekly meeting at the Northland Dairy Bar. President Roland O. thanked everyone for attending and had Tim B., start us off with the Pledge followed by Francie V. with prayer and Bob L. and Ashley L. was fine collector for the evening. With being the first meting of the month, February birthdays were announced and we had Paul T. on the 6th., Mike S. on the 17th., and Bethany P. on the 28th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all. President Roland then followed with introduction of guest and this week we had our speakers Debbie Sheehan, and Angela MartinGiroux introduced by Diane B. Bob L then introduced Lillian Lafleur, and Cassandra J. introduced her son James

COMMITTEES:

Susan G. reported on the Read Around the World Program, She has four books to select from, Brown School has contacted Susan and they are doing their red across American on Tuesday March 2nd. She will have sign up sheets for this activity and asked that the membership keeps this date in mind. Jeri L. will be her assistant for this event. They will be reaching out to the other schools later on. Jennifer A. went over the attendance contest for this week and the final score for week two is

Roland O. reported that the St. Vincent card party will take place on next Tuesday February 14th. Members are asked to arrive for 6PM for the card party.

Key Club Meeting: On each Wednesday at 2:15 pm at Berlin High School in room 502

K-Kids Meeting: Meet on the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month at the Harvest Church on Willow Street at 6PM. Check with Yvonne Thomas for more information on the K-Kids.

Glenn T. spoke on the Superbowl and we made about $3500. Glenn T. thanked Bob L., Paul F. for the number of tickets they sold. Susan G. for her computer skills. Glenn also went over the names of the winners. President Roland thanked Glenn T. for quarterbacking the raffle.

Happy dollars this week were from Glenn T., Susan G., Lillian L., Janet R., Ashley L., Roland O., Diane B., Bob D., Paul F. Fines are always in order but although several attempts were made no fines were issued, Treasurer Priscilla, read a letter from Paul and Susan Blais.
