The First HOF Bulletin Is Here! Greetings all! Thank you for picking up a copy of the first monthly Hearts on Fire Bulletin! This bulletin is designed to help keep the congregation informed on the various happenings in the Hearts on Fire ministry. Here on the front of the bulletin will be various items of interest. There will be a column dedicated to upcoming HOF events for the next month. This is also the place where we will advertise upcoming events and put out a call for volunteers when needed. The back of the bulletin will be dedicated to highlighting the various events we have taken part in over the last month as well as putting a different teen in the spotlight. It’s a good way to get to learn more about the fantastic young people we have here at Northwest. If ever one of the teens wants to help write an article for the bulletin they just
need to let me know! This is a good place for them to use their God-given talents of writing. They can reflect on a past event, give a testimony, or even write a devotional thought. I would encourage all the teens to consider this since writing is a skill that will come in handy no matter the career. I do hope and pray that this monthly bulletin will be a blessing to each and every one of you. The work that God is doing in the lives of the teens and kids here at
Northwest is nothing short of amazing. He has blessed this congregation with a group of young people who are willing to serve. I am blessed to be here working with them. In closing, remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 19:14. “But
Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’” By Ryan Martin
Hosts Needed for Sunday Nights! Every Sunday night the youth group gathers for a time of fellowship, worship, and service. At the end of every month we go to the South Side Mission in order to serve the residents there and once a month we have a movie night, but that still
leaves two or three Sundays a month open. That’s where you come in. A great way to get involved in the HOF ministry is to host the youth group for a Sunday night devotional! It’s good for the teens to get out and get to know
members of the congregation, and it’s good for you to get to know them better. Hosting a devo means you provide the food and location for the teens. Currently September 6 and October 4 and 18. Thanks! By Ryan Martin

each month so the congregation will get to know them a little better. This month’s teen spotlight goes to one of our seniors, Brennan Humes. Brennan is a fencer, and I don’t mean he is good at putting up fences. Brennan is learning the art of sword fighting. He is a senior at Peoria Christian Academy and his favorite subject is US history. Brennan is very knowledgeable about comic books, specifically DC comics, and remembers the names of actors and actresses far better than I can. Above all the other things Brennan has a hunger for the Word of God. He is very knowledgeable about the Bible and is always looking for new information to enhance his understanding of who God is. His favorite book of the Bible is Revelation.
Last Month’s Highlights This section of the bulletin will be dedicated to significant events that have happened during the last month. From time to time one of the teen’s will write this section. Here are a few highlights from August 2015 in the Hearts on Fire ministry. East Peoria Lock-In: On August 7 East Peoria CoC hosted their annual area wide lock-in. Several of our teens attended and had a blast. The theme of the lock-in was being All In for Christ. Spaghetti Dinner and Auction: On August 8 there was a spaghetti dinner and servant auction to help raise funds for next year’s mission trip to Nicaragua. A big thanks to Terry and Marie McWhirter for organizing that event! Tori Balteau’s Baptism: On August 15 the Church received a new sister. Tori Balteau was baptized into Christ by her father Ray. The heavens rejoiced as Tori made the decision to totally surrender to Jesus and be filled with His Spirit. Some months we will have more to report on than others. I encourage all the teens to consider writing their reflections down for use in this section. It will be meaningful both to you and to the entire congregation.
Brennan is a great guy and I encourage each and every member of the congregation to get to know him.
