Longreach Market Report 16nd May 2012 A yarding of 3100 head met a softer meatworks sale & a solid store market. The day started with a lane of very well presented local show cattle. Champion bullocks; account Esalex Pty Ltd, Alex and Sally Graham, sold to 175c/Kg weighing 634Kg. Champion feeder steers went also to Esalex with their Santa Steers weighing 441Kg for 184c/Kg. A smacking pen of Charbray steers on behalf of Lawrence and Judy Monize won champion store steers and sold to 204c/Kg weighing 317Kg. A classy pen of young cows on behalf of Pearce Pastoral, Rob and Liz Pearce, won champion cows selling to 148c/Kg for 487Kg. Champion pen of store heifers went to Marscroft Pty Ltd, Duncan and Liz Emmott, they sold to 185c/Kg weighing 293Kg. The Best of the bullocks over 500Kg sold to 177c/Kg, with these bullocks averaging 155c/Kg. The cow market was 10 to 12c cheaper with the best of the cows making to 145c/kg with most cows sales in the 120c/Kg. Feeder and store steers stayed firm with light store steers to 204c/Kg averaging 172c/Kg. Cow and calves sold to $747.50 for aged Brahman cows with good quality calves at foot.
