2016 Utah Baseball Outfield
• Junior Josh Rose has started in 14 games in right field and has a .255 batting average. He has a home run and two doubles with five RBI and leads the Utes in walks (5). Rose is tied for the team lead with four multiple-hit games. • Rose is a three-year starter in the outfield. • Freshman DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. has played in 13 games with 10 starts in center field and is hitting .293 on the year. He has a double and a triple with five RBI and is 1-for-2 in stolen bases. • Senior Wyler Smith started six games in the outfield this year (8 games total) and is hitting .222 with an RBI. • Smith has started 135 career games, mostly in center field, and led Utah and ranked eighth in the Pac-12 last season with a .329 batting average. • Freshman Chandler Anderson has played in 10 games with two outfield starts. He is tied for the team lead with a .333 batting average (12 at-bats). • Anderson went 2-for-3 in a start in game two against Saint Mary’s and had a hit as a pinch hitter against BYU on Tuesday, laying a bunt down that rolled just beside the third-base line. • Junior Max Schuman is tied for the team lead with a .333 batting average and has a .455 on-base percentage. He has played in 11 games with four starts, two at DH and two in the outfield. • Schuman has played in 99 games over three years with 60 starts at designated hitter. • Schuman has had a hit in five of his last six games. • Sophomore Andre Jackson has three starts this year, two in the outfield and one at designated hitter. He has a .472 slugging percentage. • Young has started 116 career games between catcher and designated hitter. • Freshman Zack Moeller has made seven starts at catcher this season and is hitting .211 with two RBI and a stolen base. He has started Utah’s last three games behind the plate. • Sophomore Cole Taylor has played in seven games as a reserve this year. He has scored two runs.

• Sophomore Jayson Rose has a 3.96 ERA with a 1-2 record in four starts. He is tied for sixth in the Pac-12 with 28 strikeouts. Rose leads Utah with 25 innings pitched. • Rose struck out 10 in game one against Saint Mary’s last weekend in a loss. • Rose earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors last year. • Rose was ranked as the 36th-best college prospect entering the season for the 2017 MLB draft by D1Baseball.com. • Senior Dalton Carroll is 3-1 with a 3.27 ERA over four starts on the mound (22 innings).
