Mount Olive Baseball & Softball Association Meeting Minutes: Jan 5th, 2016 Attendees:
President – Pete DiMaggio Background Checks: Township has officially taken over. Form needs to be filled out, and the appointments need to be scheduled with a 4-6 week turnaround time. Several locations throughout NJ. Cost of $24.20 to be paid by the coaches; submit a receipt, and MOBSA will reimburse the coaches, with the Township eventually reimbursing MOBSA. Travel Managers & Coaches should act on this ASAP. Form & info to be posted on the MOBSA website shortly. Registrations: planning on setting up tables at Basketball games. Will need help from everyone. Russ Bonagura Night: date tbd – but may be at a short notice. Golf Outing: Picatinny Golf Club – same cost $150 per head. MOBSA website will open up the sign up soon. Participants names will need to be provided ahead of time to the club. Date = May 23rd Fundraising: Mt. Olive Appreciation Day @ Dick’s – Sat March 5th. Coupon and more info will be posted as soon as it is received. Dick’s has donated $500 cash, $500 gift card & baseball/softball coaches kits Mt. Olive Night @ Longhorn Steakhouse: arranged by Dan Palmisano. Friday night date tbd between the 1st 3 Fridays once season starts. 10% returned to MOBSA. Babe Ruth tryouts info to be posted on the website shortly Vice President of Softball – Paul Segnello Travel Softball Annual Beefsteak on March 12th. $45 per person. Email blast sent out already. Indoor Practices for travel will start 1st week in February. Players should have signed up for Rec ball prior to practices. January 7th Softball tryouts (3rd) for 14U @ Sports Galaxy in Hackettstown. Vice President of Babe Ruth – Mike Mancini Player Evaluations: need ratings no later than mid-February Coaches certification needs to be done through Babe Ruth website if new coach. Previous certifications done already are acceptable. Jefferson / Hackettstown / Denville will participate in the Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth tournament trail in our own District 7 Get the Background checks done in January, at the latest by the next association meeting, especially with the lead time of 4-6 weeks. Need to send an email to Mike if any interest in coaching or managing in Baseball 16U level will be managed again by Mike with Regionals being hosted by MO in July Babe Ruth Travel Tryouts for ages 13-15 will be held Monday 1/25 & Saturday 1/30 Secretary – Snehal Desai Need to review possibility of sending out flyers via post office to all of MO.
Treasurer – Nate Richardson Not present Player Agent – Rich Smith Online Registrations: Baseball = 60 & Softball = 19 so far Equipment Director – James Gallagher Still need outstanding bags and keys turned in Head Groundskeeper – Sam Hollien nothing Publicity Director – Tom Cefola signs put up at the Elementary schools Activities Directors – Bill Lockwood / Steve Schmidt nothing Fundraising Director – Scott Eagleson still need to finalize the $$ packages for the Sponsorships so that they can be finalized by end of February. Concessions Director – Christine Youtz not present Webmaster – Sal Matteis new website is live. Transition s/b operational by Spring.
